Jerry Vile Greases Detroit Bureaucrats
18 08 13 - 20:42Local artist Jerry Vile had a simple suggestion as to how Detroiters can ease the pain of Bankruptcy. His controversial, new art installation is titled "Vessel of Hope", which features a huge can of lard under "Joe Louis' Fist". Vile is well known as the organizer of the annual Dirty Show, here in Detroit's Eastern Market, so the real connotation of the installation went over the heads of most people. The installation only lasted 6-7 hours before city workers carted it off as "abandoned property".
The funniest bit comes from the offices of Detroit's Fox 2, as they didn't get it either, as this FB post asks: "Can anyone explain what this means???" After getting a reply, our crack media team later added, "Wow. Apparently, we're a little naive." Nice job, Jeff Clark.
Vile has sold the installation on Ebay for $1,300.00 & wanted to donate the money to the city, but they rebuffed his offer, so the cash will go to charity.
Seller Notes: ''It is banged up a bit by the city of Detroit rolling it when they had it removed from the street. There are some tears-, but heck, that's like a bullet hole in an army canteen. It makes it better. It's less than a month old. It can refurbished by my team of expert experts. But why would you want to?''
Well Done!
