The Last Pin Up Girl
12 12 08 - 00:50The official end of the glorious era of the American Pin Up Girl was announced this evening, Bettie Page passed away at 85. RIP, my dear.... . The 50's was an era that seemed to be defined by Brylcream, D-A haircuts, hot rods, & pin-up girl calendars. Bettie was THE pin-up, as she captured imagination of males accross this country with her free spirit & captivating looks. Photographs of Bettie's sensuous figure clad in bikinis or see-through lingerie were found on walls in military barracks, service stations and teenager's rooms everywhere.
"I think that she was a remarkable lady, an iconic figure in pop culture who influenced sexuality, taste in fashion, someone who had a tremendous impact on our society," Playboy founder Hugh Hefner told The Associated Press on Thursday. Bettie was the January 1955 centerfold for the upstart magazine.
She was called "the embodiment of beauty" by men who adored her & women that envied her. We'll miss you Bettie. Bettie Page
